Best in the World (世界ランカー) is the fourth episode of the Btooom! anime.

Synopsis

A scene of a woman's rape and murder is revealed. Two policemen talk about Kōsuke Kira, the 14 year old murderer and that Soichi Natsume is going to be Kōsuke's lawyer.

Somewhere in the forest, Soichi finds Kōsuke impaling frogs while counting the kills. Kōsuke questions why they pity killing frogs even though no one is bothered with it, and Soichi tells him it's still wrong. The two spot supplies attached parachutes descending near by. Soichi tells Kōsuke to stand up to his father's abuse. Later, Kōsuke's father, Yoshihisa Kira, finds the briefcase up in the tree, and he asks his son to give him his BIM. When Kōsuke hesitates, Yoshihisa kicks his son and takes the BIM. He tries to detonate the tree, and Soichi points out that only Kōsuke can detonate it, as the BIM belongs to him. When Kira detonates the BIM, it quickly activates a vacuum before exploding. Yoshihisa opens the case and takes it. Soichi asks Yoshihisa to divide the supplies evenly, but Yoshihisa tells Soichi that the strong survive and that he found the briefcase. When Kōsuke calls his father a scum, Yoshihisa grabs his son's crotch and squeezes Kōsuke's testicles. In a flashback, Kōsuke is busy playing games until his father barges in and kicks him since Kira ditched school to play video games. In anger, Kōsuke slaps his BIM on his father's chest and activates it. Yoshihisa attempts to take off his shirt, yet the half of his body is imploded. Kōsuke is happy and tells Soichi that he finally stood up to his father. Soichi calls Kōsuke a monster and runs away. Kōsuke is angry that Soichi broke his promise of protecting him.
